About Red Door

From 2004-2009, Red Door served as an alternative gallery space focused on exhibiting the work of new and emerging artists using a variety of mediums in meaningful, interesting, inspiring and thought provoking ways.

The gallery concept was simple. Accessibility. Everyone was welcome to come and relax, converse and most of all spend some time and enjoy the work on exhibition. We created an atmosphere that encouragesd interesting and meaningful dialogue via the interaction between artists, their work, and ideas about how art can influence, direct, analyze, and be a catalyst for change. We created a warm and inviting atmosphere that gave our visitors a unique alternative to the sometimes cold and uninviting traditional gallery space.

As part of our yearly schedule of activities, we will held artists receptions, workshops, seminars, and interactive experiences designed to foster a stimulating environment for positive dialogue focussing on cultural enrichment through the arts.

About our name and logo

Of all the colors in the spectrum, red is the one that provokes the most physiological responses. It is the color that is most easily recognized and the most visible in daylight. It has been shown that red causes the human heart to beat faster and blood pressure to rise. It symbolizes excitement, energy, passion, desire, love, power, danger, fire, blood, war, violence and aggression: all things intense and passionate.

The Red Door logo is a symbol from Alchemy used to represent Hematite, the most important source of iron ore in the world. The color of Ochre which comes from the powder of Hematite is one of the first pigments used by human beings and forms the base for the most important of the three primary colors.
